Rachael is a dear friend of mine, so this wedding was extra fun for me. I got to spend the weekend at a tree house camp (!) with friends, my husband, and my dog (yes dogs were invited to the wedding). It was just the right kind of cold for camp fires, s’mores, flannel, and boots. The wedding part of the weekend was perfect. Before the ceremony Rob and Rachael hid out in their respective treehouses while all the guests paraded up the trail to the ceremony site, singing “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. The ceremony was followed by a pig roast, dancing, and more bonfires. Big thanks to the Maple Tree Camp and of course Rachael and Rob for having such a fun weekend wedding.
I also did a little video for them. This is the first time I’ve done video and I think it turned out pretty good.

A bit about Lina and Carl’s wedding, written by Lina: “Our journey brings us here! To the island where it all started for my family! Where my Baba wooed my Mama with chocolate on his Vespa. To the village where my great grandfather served as priest. in the same place my parents married and I was baptized. This island is special to me. It breaths my family’s history. A history that Carl and I are inheriting and contributing to.”
While I have photographed Greek weddings before. I have never photographed a wedding like this. It started when Lina started to get dressed into her gown, and female family members erupted into song. Lina’s mother tied a blue eye charm into her dress. When I saw Carl, and he was being dressed by his close male friends. I learned that Carl holds the bouquet until Lina arrives, then presents it to her before they go into the church. There is an exchange of rings and the crowning of the bride and groom. They drink from a “common cup” and are led by the priest three times around the alter. As they leave the church they are showered with rice and lavender, and Lina tosses the bouquet to the unmarried women. The entire ceremony was in Greek, so I took visual cues. After portraits during sunset the reception began as they toasted with cups of Ouzo, and cut their wedding cake. Traditional Greek food, music, and dancing followed, along with some american dance music as well. We ate dinner and celebrated on the dock, facing the Aegean Sea. You could see Turkey in the distance.
The ceremony took place at the Chapel of St. George, and a reception followed at Mouragio Taverna in between St George Beach and Kanoni Beach across from the Thermal Hot Springs. Lina wore a JCrew dress and headpiece from Twigs and Honey.
This was an amazing experience and I’m so very grateful that Lina and Carl chose me to document their wedding!
Lina and Carl, who you might recognize from our New Years Eve Styled shoot, were married this August in Greece. The pre-wedding dinner took place in the town of Thermi in Mytilene, on the Island of Lesbos. Lina’s mother and father both grew up on the island, in nearby villages. I arrived in Mytilene by way of Athens>Santorini>Paros>Lesbos. Lina, a graphic designer, designed and printed her own wedding invitations and paper goods, including a hand-drawn map of the island. The pre-wedding dinner consisted of some of the best foods I’ve ever eaten, a never-ending flow of white wine, and live music and dancing. Carl, a musician, and friends played songs together on guitar to end the evening.
Stay tuned for part 2 of their wedding weekend!
Liza and Jared were married at Mt Hood Bed and Breakfast near Portland, Oregon. Their venue was like a dream, with Mt Hood as the backdrop for the ceremony. The wedding was beautifully styled and coordinated by Andrea Anderson of First Come Love Events with vintage rentals from Something Borrowed Portland. Liza looked gorgeous in her Watters Gobi Dress, and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The best part, though, was when Jared screamed, “I DO!” before the officiant finished reading the vows.
Thanks Liza and Jared for having us come all the way to Oregon to photograph your wedding!
We flew out to Portland, Oregon last month to photograph Liza and Jared for their wedding. Since the wedding was going to be out near Mt. Hood, we got together the day before to take some shots of them around the city. We love travelling for weddings so this was a really great chance for us to run around a city we haven’t spent too much time in, and make the most of it! Stay tuned for Liza and Jared’s wedding post shortly!
